Having a CSCS card shows that you have the required training and qualifications to work on a building site.
There is a range of CSCS cards to reflect the varied occupations in construction. Before you apply for your CSCS card, please check you have selected the right card for the work you undertake as the cards do differ. In order to apply for your CSCS card you need to be able to:
- Demonstrate you have achieved the recognised qualifications required for your occupation
- Pass the relevant Health Safety and Environment test. We recommend if you are unsure to call CSCS on 0344 9944 777.
- You do need to be aware of changes implemented from 1st July 2014 if you wish to apply for a Green card, it is important that you call CSCS on 0344 9944 777 to check that you have the relevant qualifications to obtain your card.
CSCS
From 1st July 2014 the green Construction Site Operative (CSO) card is no longer being issued. There is a new green CSCS card only available for people working in labouring occupations.
If you have a green CSO this will be valid until its expiry date after which you will need to achieve either a Level 1 Award in Health and safety in a Construction Environment or a one day Site Safety Plus Certificate before being able to take the Health and Safety and Environment test.
